What to expect
At Spirit of Joy, you should expect to encounter a group of friendly, welcoming people who believe in a God who is full of grace, mercy, and love. You should expect a worship celebration that is both rooted in the deep traditions of the Church and is approachable and comprehensible in our current context. Most of all you should expect to feel invited into our ministry from your first visit.
Worship Times and Style
Spirit of Joy worships in-person on Sundays at 9:30am. We have a full liturgy every week, including confession and forgiveness, scripture reading, sermon, prayer, and a celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Our worship services are firmly rooted in the traditions of the Church and expressed in contextually accessible ways. We worship in a relaxed, casual atmosphere using everyday language and a wide variety of music styles.
The Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion)
All are welcome at the Lord’s Table; at Spirit of Joy, all means all - including children of all ages. So that all who desire to participate may do so, gluten-free wafers and grape juice are available, in addition to bread and wine. When we break bread together at Spirit of Joy, we remember that what holds us together is not uniformity of thought, doctrine, race, gender, sexual orientation, or politics, but the grace of God.
Nursery / Child Care
We LOVE babies, and you are entirely welcome to keep your children with you in the worship service, even if they get fussy. However, at the 9:30am service, we have a staffed nursery room available for children ages 5 and under if you choose. We also have activity bags available for younger children to use during worship services.
What should I wear?
Whatever you want… Spirit of Joy has a very casual culture. Our congregation is not one to be hung up on formalities. When we say you are welcome here, we mean the real you… bring your questions, your doubts, your fears, and anything else you carry with you – and don’t feel a need to cover any of who you are in the façade of your Sunday best.
