Ministries

Outreach Ministry Team Mission Statement:
Our mission is to be people of God who, through the power of the Holy Spirit and in the name of Jesus Christ, bring care, comfort and assistance to those beyond our walls.

Spirit of Joy is a Stephen Ministry Congregation

 Making Jesus Known…

through Caring Relationships,
trusting that GOD is the curegiver.

Since July 16, 2003, we have been enrolled as part of Stephen Ministry. We currently have 13 trained Stephen Ministers and 5 trained Stephen Leaders, serving people in and around our congregation. This important extension of pastoral care offers listening, Christian care to those in crises, large and small, short-term and long-term, from life-changing events to simply the need to talk through something on one’s mind.

This ministry belongs to all of us here at Spirit of Joy and is supported in our budget, in our prayers, and in our actions. It is part of who we are and how we are.

PBS recently featured Stephen Ministry on its "Religion and Ethics" news show.

You can can watch the video online at the PBS Web site.

All are welcome to worship at Spirit of Joy!

Worship at Spirit of Joy generally follows the Lutheran liturgical tradition in a casual and friendly setting,

but varies widely in style.

Our Joyful Classic Worship, at 8:30 am on Sunday mornings, rotates through about 10 different liturgical settings,
including 4 piano-based settings from the Lutheran Book of Worship and With One Voice hymnal, and several settings using other instrumentations, including a folk setting, a bluegrass setting, and a country setting, as well as settings by Marty Haugen and John Ylvisaker.
Congregational singing includes a mix of traditional hymns

and more contemporary songs.

The Joyful Classic service is the more traditional of the two services.

Our Joyful Celebration Worship, at 10:45 am on Sunday mornings, is led by our Praise Band,
and incorporates contemporary popular Christian music. Instrumentation generally includes
electric guitars, bass, keyboard, and drums.

All worship services include the Lord's Supper,
at which all are welcome!
Children are fully welcome!

A nursery for infants through age 5 is available
at all Sunday services for those who desire it.
